Subject: taking Libra's ruler to heart...
i too have had my thinking heavily influenced by Valerie Vaughan's book Persephone is Transpluto. the book was revolutionary to me in so far as how i interpret astrological house rulerships. and when Eris was discovered i thought for sure this was the planet that ruled Libra. Valerie made such a strong case for Venus ruling Taurus exclusively and the sign Libra having less to do with Venus and more relevance to the myth of Persephone. you could say i really wanted Eris to rule Libra more than anything. just to prove that Venus was not the ruler as popularly believed!
my opinion has changed on this, though. in my opinion the true ruler of Libra has not been discovered....yet. as far as what sign Eris rules, well i don't know if it does rule a sign. there is an astrologer named Lynn Koiner who i highly respect who has written much about Eris and Transpluto(the true ruler of Virgo, not Ceres). take a look at her articles:
Lynn makes a good case for Transpluto ruling Virgo and when you test this out in your chart using transits and solar arcs you may certainly see it this way!
Lynn's view on Eris is that it is such a positive influence in the chart that it goes against the naming of the planet or the myth! i personally think they misnamed this planet for the effect of its energies has little to do with the name and the myth. that's been my experience and i've examined the arcs and transits of this planet. they all seem positive!
A lot of this may go against what i originally stated regarding Valerie's book but i think the one message from her book is quite crystal clear: Venus does not make sense as the ruler of Libra and the planet that rules Libra has not been discovered yet!
I never desired Eris to be the "ruler" of Libra, i studied her as UB313 and recognized her as being very much like Vaughan's "Persephone". Yes, i always get flamed when i mention Vaughan, UB313 now Eris, and Libra in the same sentence ;-) V.V is like a lightning rod for attracting controversy, particularly from the skeptics. She is well versed in science and i imagine that is her connection to Cardinal Air.
i wouldn't say that Venus doesn't rule Libra, i believe in the traditional rulerships... day and night. if a modern day ruler for Libra is found it should have resonance in the Heart chakra, like Venus. Let's look at *2003* UB313, now Eris. In 2003 the country and world saw the largest mobilization of a PEACE movement ever gathered BEFORE an actual war broke out! (i was arrested twice at demonstrations during the first week of the conflict) it is a testament to the subtlety of the Libran energy that it is easily overpowered by more aggressive forces, in this case a cadre of business interests seeking to shatter a fragile nation in order to sow enough chaos so that they could rob it's oil resources with impunity... it is a testament to the strength of Libran energy that any nation that sacrifices justice and truth for short term profits is going to have to pay the bill sooner or later.
in 2004 we sacked and burned the city of Fallujah. People had stayed behind because they had no money, had no vehicle, had no relatives outside the city, or wished to protect their possessions from looters. Children were found shot dead with white flags of surrender clutched in their lifeless hands, mothers and babies burned to the bone by white phosphorus...can we sense a lack of Libra here?
in 2005 the discovery of UB313 was announced.Soon after, Hurricane Katrina swamped New Orleans. again people stayed behind, for the same reasons they stayed behind in Fallujah. the rule of Law was gone, and so was our government for that week. Rumors swarmed of crazed negroe gangs rampaging through the city, raping, shooting at rescue craft. that's all they were, rumors. So much aid was denied the city that week even as people were drowning in their attics and dying on their rooftops and baking into the hot tar, and alligators were swarming in to feast on the bodies. Again a sense of this lack of Libran fairness? a major world city left to founder because of ingrown racial and socio-economic prejudices?
i'm sorry if it looks like i'm politicizing this message board but PEACE isn't political, it's what we have Law and Government for. Peace isn't compromise, it's seeing ourselves in others and loving as we ouselves would like to be loved, beyond codependency and our relationship addictions...maybe there is a modern ruler for Libra, "somewhere out there" as certain people like to imply. are we even ready for the energies of this planet, or deserving of it?
